KING AND KINGDOMS
MAKING OF CINEMATIC TRAILER
almost every thing done by one person
Lets dive into more deep

STORYBOARD

First I needed to create a storyboard previzualisation (or animatic) to see how it will look in final. Also I really loved "The hu - Wolf totem" music, so I decided to use exactly this music in main trailer, however  after creating animatic, we understand that their license prices are much higher than me and my customer excepted.
After knowing how it will look, how it will give atmosphere to auditory, time came to create previzualisation
After cretaing previzualisation and getting feedback from customer, I didnt changed anything in previz, we know well that our time is going, deadline is short, so after getting feedback I started to make trailer.
SHOT 01 - 02
Description:

1. Golden crown is set in the middle of a completely dark room under a spotlight. Camera slowly zooms
into the crown.

2. Zooming center of the corona is bottom part, where still images of battle scenes are seen.
Scene looks very light in first look but it took more time than I excepted.
Here is the final Stillframe Composited and Color Graded in After Effects

SHOT 03 and 04

3.Once completely zoomed into the bottom part of the crown (such that the crown itself is not visible
anymore), the images are shifted into real scenes (HOWEVER THERE IS STILL NO MOTION).
4. The camera then shifts upwards from battle scene to bird eye view of an ancient Roman/Greek city.
So, I retimed next scene with previous shot and tried to  create seamless transition between two scenes.
Scene was too much big, and I could give the feeling of heavy scene look to viewers, not little toy soldiers fights together. So I added a bit slow motion to all main characters to show how scene "heavy" is. Also time stopping of another characters gave more attraction to our main characters, so I didnt give extra animations to secondary soldiers in scene.
In this partial shot over 240 000 soldiers scattered around the environment with random rotation and position.

SHOT 5 and 6

5. The camera then spins to the far side of the city to show the overview of a Chinese/Japanese city.
6. It then zooms into the battle scene within that city
SHOT 7 to 15
7-15. The same non-stop camera moves (from bird-eye view to zooming into battle scenes) happen for all 7 kingdoms (Listing and sequence of kingdoms to be advised)

SHOT 16 to 25
16. The camera comes back to the very first battle scene in Roman/Greek city. Accompanied with relevant music and sound effects, the action starts, where warriors start fighting.
17. Intense fighting scenes all along 7 kingdoms. Fallen warriors start sinking into the soil as if they fall into water (view from above).
18. More and more warriors are seen to be sinking into the ground (side view).
19. The camera starts slowly zooming out of this “underground graveyard”.
20. While zooming out, it appears that underground graveyard is the bottom part of the crown.
21-22. Bottom and upper details of the crown are faded away, leaving the crown itself in the original position as in the first scene. The camera slightly zooms into the crown while sound of footsteps is heard in the background.
23-24. A king (not recognizable) approaches the crown, picks it up and wears it.
25. “King and Kingdoms” appears in the middle of the screen.

Used After Effects To do compositing and color grade. Premiere pro used to edit andsound design. Cinema 4d and octane render mainly used to achive realistic looking animation.
